Preparing for calls with prep tools

This guide shows a seller how to use the three prep tools around a real deal: before the first call, after it, and before the next important meeting.

Before you start

Make sure your workspace's primary methodology is the one your team sells with, and that any customised questions are saved. Prep tools use it unless you choose another. Each tool also has a language picker; produce the output in the language of the meeting.

Before a discovery call: generate questions

  1. Open Knowledge → Prep tools → Discovery questions.
  2. Enter the account name and, if you like, the industry and notes.
  3. Generate questions.

You'll get your methodology's discovery questions grouped by stage. Read them, pick the four or five that matter for this account, and Copy as Markdown into your call notes.

Tip: if the questions don't sound like your team, customise the methodology once rather than rewriting them every time.

After the call: build a scorecard

  1. Open Qualification scorecard.
  2. Enter the account name and paste everything you have into Account notes: your notes, the call transcript, anything from the CRM.
  3. Build scorecard.

For each criterion you'll see a status (complete, partial, missing or unknown), the evidence from your notes, and the next step to close the gap. Use the missing and unknown rows as the agenda for your next conversation. The overall health rating is a prompt for a conversation with your manager, not a forecast.

The scorecard is only as good as the notes: a transcript gives much better evidence than three bullet points.

Before an important meeting: create a brief

  1. Open Call prep brief a day or two ahead.
  2. Enter the account name, the objective ("agree a pilot", "show the reporting module to the finance team") and your notes, ideally including the latest scorecard.
  3. Create brief.

The brief gives you an executive summary, the deal context, questions in priority order, likely objections with a suggested framing, recommended demos and follow-up actions. Read it twice, cut what doesn't apply, and share the parts that help colleagues joining the call.

Can I find an old brief?

Yes. History keeps every output with the inputs that produced it. Filter by tool to find the scorecard or brief you need, and check what notes it was built from.

How do I share an output?

Every output has Copy as Markdown, which pastes cleanly into email, chat tools and most CRMs' notes.
